Finally got to the point of testing the deck and piston to valve clearance. Looks pretty good on all counts. With the resized rods and Probes in the uncut block, I see decks of .014 -#1, .018 -#4, .015 - #5, .019 #8.

I was pretty amazed at the P2V numbers. I got .180 on both intake and exhaust with no head gasket. Didn't really buy it, ran it all again and got the same numbers. Also bought a fancy 9 way timing chain and the dang cam is pretty much dead on at zero. Intake @.050 open at 16 BTDC, reading 17. Exhaust 52 ABDC, reads 53. So far so good.

Considering a cut to level the deck and take off .010 based on the front numbers. Also may take .006 off the heads to get rid of some small scratches that are there. Not big but the just catch a fingernail.

Got a guy building headers for the car right now. Not sure the cost, it's a gotta have so just tell me the number. :)

Thanks. We're building downswept for this car. He's ordered special flanges for the AFD heads. I bought a 16 gauge kit from Hedman but we still ended up throwing out the collectors. Not going to be cheap, but will work well.

Chris, good luck with the build, cant wait to see some pics. I have a set of AFD 4v at the porters, and they are at 391 at .800 lift. and 368 at .600, still a little high on velocity, to correct, they will be flowing over 400, and exhaust is flowing well too. They outflowed a set of CNC D3 across the board, porter was impressed, so was Larry Morgan. Getting ready to order an Air supremacy intake.
Do you have any flow numbers? What do you think of yours, which ones are they?

I just used the AFD 4V 235cc intake published numbers in my engine program. Mid 300s on the intake, about 220+ on the exhaust. Don't have the exact handy.

Chris,
One thing I remember ( I last ran my dragster in 1982) is get a GOOD oil pan that controls forward slosh. I ran the Moroso Pro stock pan I got from Dyno Don with my engine and it was terrible. Any time I put the brakes on while moving , the oil pressure dropped. You don't need the troubles like I had.

Cool, just wondered if you worked them over, or had someone else do it.
