Hi All

Going to piece together a build with old stuff that's been on shelf for ever. Build is around a set of 4V closed chambers with intake tongues and a flat tappet I ordered in 1997 and never used. I have a set of pistons for 6.0 rod but require crank. I have a 3.85 crank but require pistons. All other components will be stock of the shelf so either I have the choice of buying a set of pistons or a 3.75 crank. Plan to keep static around 11-11.5. Also if I stay with 3.5 Stroke I cam put this together without any new purchases.

Specs as follows for build which is utilising stuff that's been gathering dust for the past 20 years:
4V Closed chamber 63cc heads ported with intake tongues - no flow figures but look good. 2.19 and 1.71 Manley valves and YT rockers.
Active Intake manifold but also have strip dominator- Carb will either be Holley 1050 dom, 750 or 950 pro series.
Cam Crow Flat Tappet @.050 - Intake 262@0.356 lobe 616 valve and Exhaust 270@0.371 lobe and 642 valve, lobe separation of 108. Advertised I298 and E301
Ignition MSD.

So whats thoughts on stroke choice bearing in mind if I stick with 3.5 stroke I have everything to complete. Aiming for at least 500hp and will be interesting to see your thoughts.

Regards Lyle.

Nothing at all wrong with a 3.5" stroke.

I did one a couple of years ago, 3.5" stroke, 12:1 compression, Strip Dominator, 259/267 @ .050" solid roller, 108 LSA, .700" lift, that made 620 hp at 8000 with a 1050 Dominator. That all was with factory 4V heads, unported, just one of our good valve jobs.

Good numbers for Iron heads and standard stroke, what fuel were you on for those numbers?

Im building this for 98 unleaded pump gas.

I was thinking of switching to a roller but the thing is I have had this cam for ever and never get around to putting it in a build.

Regards Lyle

Where are you located?

If you are in the states, I have a new set of SRP forged flat tops for sale. They are for a 351C, .030 over, part number 206069 (for 9.2 block, 3.85 stroke, 6" rod, 1.25 compression height.) These usually sell for $550 to $590 depending on where you get them, but I am offering these for $400, plus the ride.
