We've been running a 440 clevor in a 67 Fairmont for a few years now and had a mishap recently that essentially destroyed the crank, a couple of rods and Pistons.
Previous combo had CP's in it and am looking at options whether to stick with them or go Racetec.
We're upgrading the combo by adding a vac pump this time around and would like to know what options are available as far as widths are concerned. Previous has 1.5,1.5 ,3mm but would like something thinner in that regard.
Combo is 4.185 X 4 inch stroke which routinely will see 8000 rpm . Street /strip combo. dart SHP 9.5 block.
Thanks in advance.
Russ

Sorry to hear about the mishap....

I'm sure Randy will chip in when he sees this, but I do a lot of 1mm/1mm/2mm sets with some of my race stuff. You can get smaller than that, but I don't think the practicality is there yet.

Thanks Brent. That ring package might be right for what we are doing. No need to get too exotic.

Throttle got stuck open going down the 1/4 . Couldn't stop the car so the owner downshifted a gear . There's a possibility that it all started there ,perhaps stressing a bolt or something like that. Difficult to tell . Anyway, we are fixing it and going racing again. Car has done a 9.94 so far at around 3700lbs.
Want to get it into the 9.7 bracket. Old combo made 763 on pump gas and hoping for a bit more this time around.

Russ,
The 1.0x1.0x2.0 is a good package for a race only deal. My good friend John Goodwin @ Mahle says they are streetable but I haven't tried them in that application yet. There is no big gain in going thinner except the drain to your wallet. You will see a gain over the 1.5x1.5x3.0 fur certain. The vacuum pump is another big help . Both could easily make a tenth or more difference at the track. Order them through Brent, he has allot of "pull" at Racetec. LOL

Flat, dish, or dome? Vertical gas ports? Need fancy wrist pins or anything?

We are going to run a vac pump so if lateral gas ports are needed then quote as such.
Dished style piston around 18cc.
Do we need fancy wrist pins at this level?
Maybe even quote .043 style rings.

Cheers,Russ
