Does anyone else remember Ford Motorsports (I think), used to offer a cleveland valve cover that was also a valvetrain girdle?

I think the studs were extra long so that they would poke through the top of the valvecover, and there were 8 nuts you put on the top of the studs once the valvecover was on. The idea being that the valvecover itself would act as a support for the valvetrain. Looked like a solid setup.

A. Did it really work as well as a clamp on stud girdle?
B. Has anyone here ever run this setup?
C. Did it work as well as it looked?

Still cool looking - but did they work?

I'm kinda guessing the answer must be no, otherwise we'd see a ton of them around for Windsor's...

I imagine they worked for valvetrain stability. The problem was that they were hard to keep from leaking, and checking valve lash was a chore as well.

An old thread but I was just talking to tuffxf/Paul about these covers the other day.
I always liked these but yeah a pain for lash.
Run shaft rockers and just fix the Acorn nuts in place. Best of both worlds!

In order for those valve cover girdles to really work they would need...

1- to be really rigid
2- use no gasket, only a thin bead of sealant that would get squished out
3- have a nut beneath the cover as well as the nuts on top so you could really clamp the cover in place

I think the have the potential to work well, but everything would have to be just right.
