Ok, so after the big high of the Dyno success last Tuesday, I now have to deal with the leaky rear main seal... Part of the problem might have been caused by me applying slightly too much sealer to the end cap rubber sump gasket, as when I tightened down the sump some of the sealer found its way down the pin hole in the end cap and oozed out from between the end cap and the crank.. probably didn't help matters.

What's the best brand of main seal to purchase? When I installed the seal originally, I made sure that the end gaps were offset and not opposite each other. In line with the instructions, I didn't use sealer on the end gaps - perhaps I should have used some? Also, my block has had the crank align-bored, which I guess will cause the seals to compress slightly more depending on what thickness of material was removed from the main cap - is this ok, or is there anything special that I should be doing because of this?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Pete, did you ever get your rear main seal leak problem figured out?

I used the fel-pro 2piece rubber seal before, and have no complaints.
