Guys,
I seem to run across SVO blocks that seems like a decent deal but they have a 55mm roller bearing camshaft bore.
Can these be converted to run a regular babbet bearing and a regular cam? I know there are babbet bearings to fit but I assume it would require a special cam core...

The babbit bearings are easy to get. The cam core will depend on if the rear bearing is smaller than the others. There are several varieties of cam cores for Windsors.

How much bigger is the 55mm bore over a stock windsor cam bearing bore? Do they make thick babbit bearings that will take 55mm down to a regular cleveland or windsor cam? Or once it's at 55mm, do you have to use larger bearing cams?

I think the benefits of the larger bearings are good, but if going to it means your shelf of cams is useless, then I don't know if the upgrade would be worth it.

Depends on which core you need. A lot of them are the same price.
