Originally i cut it right at the weld where the collector ring met the collector. I was using my exhaust pipe expander but it malfunctioned so I just had to cut it right at the 3" mark. You can see where it was discoloured from it being restricted. Why they put a 2.5" collector on a 1 3/4" primary tube header is beyond me but I guess it was just for clearance reasons

before in the car

Collector discolour after running them with my old 3" full exhaust with flowmasters Chopped off flange

Then was like why not just open it to a full 3" like it should be. This is the difference between the 2.5" collector and the now open pipe

Now under the car

Then i cut the old 3" exhaust pipes I had off at the collector and cut it off about 26" long. welded on a slip collector on each pipe and clamped them with those I got form O'Reilly's. Then made my own hangers and bolted them to the drive shaft safety loop

It probably was done for clearance reasons and it'll be interesting if it runs better, worse or doesn't change at all with a larger pipe.

I would put at least 12" of extension on there, even if I was hooking exhaust up to it.

Well my step dad has his chassis dyno up and running now. Im going to test it with open headers and with extension pipe to see what it likes better. Ill post up the dyno sheets when im done. It wont be for probably another 1-2 months till i dyno it though, hes still working some of the bugs out and he needs to practice with his cars 8-)

i planed on running 3" pipe past the front frame rails and then just exit it under the doors- or something like that
